Abstract
We are moving from the economy of the classical industrial revolution to a service economy. Changes in economic thinking have also had to take place. The key issue for the future is to improve the use of available resources whether monetarized or non-monetarized. There is now a contradiction between wealth and riches, and economic resources are allocated to activities made necessary by the rising costs of the functioning of the economic system. Measuring our real wealth is difficult. While we can buy pocket calculators for a tenth of the price ten years ago, we pay more for previously free goods such as uncontaminated drinking water or a swim in unpolluted water.
